Vacation, etc!

So as you may recall, when I last posted about my usual winter vacation… it was off… and I ended that post with "And besides, maybe he'll change his mind."

Well, he changed his mind.

Several things happened for Chuck to change his mind but I think the most important thing was that our friends in Mexico, Redge and Judy, sent him an e-mail. We only see Redge and Judy when we are in Mexico, and we don't talk much for the rest of the year, but when we are down there we spend a lot of time with them. They are the kind of people you can spend hours talking with and not realize that hours have past and you do not have a clue as to what you have talked about! It is fun. It is serious. It is comfortable. It is easy. And it is never boring.

Anyway, Redge and Judy said that they would really miss us if we did not come. REALLY miss us. REALLY REALLY MISS US. And that was enough for Chuck to start questioning his decision. Then, we talked. He expressed his feelings. I expressed my mine. He told me why he didn't want to go and why he did. I told him why I wanted to go, but not if he didn't want to. We talked it through.

Friendship is a two-way street. If, broadly speaking, someone is trying to talk you into doing something that you do not want to… then that someone is trying to control you. OR if you are trying to convince someone to do something that they don't want to, then you are trying to control them. Neither of us are the type to be controlling or be controlled. That's why our friendship works so well. Neither of us did that in this situation and we came to an agreement.

So tickets have been purchased & received, the hotel has been booked, long conversations with Redge and Judy will be had, and beautiful sunsets await.
